  • The post holder is responsible for setting up sleep diagnostics
  • The post holder is required to support the lung function department
  • There may need to be some flexibility in the working pattern to meet the demands of the service.

 

Main duties of the job

Clinical Responsibilities

Maintain professional behaviour at all times and promote a positive image of Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust at all times, in line with World Class Care values

To demonstrate good communication skills when dealing with patients, relatives and members of the multidisciplinary team utilising sensitivity, empathy and ability to manage conflict.

To perform, accurately record and interpret patient observations -temperature, pulse, blood pressure

To support patients through the sleep pathways as directed by the team.

To support the team in performing diagnostic tests (e.g. set up sleep studies, perform spirometry, perform SNIP/MIP/MEP, take capillary blood gases)

To check equipment and liaise with EME or supplier for returns or faults

Supply replacement equipment/parts to patients via post/courier

To provide education to patients, relatives and carers

To understand the principles of the Friends and Family Test/Expedia patient feedback and how it is used to improve and maintain an excellent patient experience.

 

About us

Finchley Memorial Community Diagnostic Centre (CDC), occasional requirement to attend other Royal Free London sites as well as CDC at Wood Green, Monday to Sunday, from 8 am to 8 pm.

Finchley Memorial CDC works in close collaboration with its sister site Wood Green CDC, hosted by Whittington Health NHS Trust. As the service develops there is a potential requirement for staff working at either site to cross-cover.

Our service is delivered on a shift basis working 8 am-8 pm 7 days a week

The CDC operates a 7-day, working week Excluding Bank Holidays from the hours of 08:00 – 2000. We operate a shift system with 12-hour shifts available as well as 7.5-hour shifts. All staff must rotate through the week with weekend work as part of the rota.

 

Education

Essential

  • Experience to NVQ level or applied training to diploma equivalent level.

Desirable

  • Experience in Sleep Studies.

  • Experience with physiological diagnostics.

  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Experience with using sleep equipment.

  • Ability to establish good working relationships with patients, carers, administrators, healthcare workers, mangers, clinicians etc.
  • Ability to be organised and methodical.
