You will be required to
Ensure that all HIV homecare prescriptions, order requests and invoices are processed in a timely and accurate manner
Liaise directly with homecare providers and service users to ensure an efficient service and supplies continue as appropriate
Counsel and educate patients on the use of their medicines
Main duties of the job
- The post holder will be responsible for the day-to-day coordination of the repeat prescription service for HIV patients, in conjunction with the HIV clinical support Technician and HIV Specialist Pharmacist.
- The post holder will support the HIV clinical support HIV Technician to provide medicines management service to the clinical areas.
- The post holder will be expected to maintain patient confidentiality, as all patient information is strictly confidential and information may only be shared with the minimum number of designated staff.
- To be responsible for dealing with Homecare queries and participating in dispensary activities as required.
Person Specification
Qualifications
Essential
- BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Principles and Practice for Pharmacy Technicians or equivalent qualification.
- Registration as a pharmacy technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
- Accuracy Checking Pharmacy Technician (ACPT).
- HEE Medicines Optimisation accreditation or equivalent.
Desirable
- Practice Supervisor, Train the trainer, or equivalent qualification.
Experience
Essential
- Experience of working in a busy pharmacy department.
- Pharmacy labelling and stock control systems.
- Understanding the importance and adheres to SOPs and legislation, identifying and suggesting areas for change.
Desirable
- Experience in hospital pharmacy setting.
- Previous experience processing Homecare invoices.
