The Report & Dashboard Developer will create high-quality data visualisation products using Microsoft Power BI and Microsoft SQL Server to convey key insights to users across the organisation. Working for Informatics in the Digital Services directorate, this role combines the technical aspects of developing measures and SQL statements with the ability to create data-driven reports from a set of requirements, delivering intuitive reporting solutions that support clinical and operational decision-making. The developer will create comprehensive documentation, provide maintenance support for reporting environments, and collaborate with stakeholders to understand and meet their information needs.
Main duties of the job
Design and Develop Data Visualisations
- Create high-standard reports and dashboards using modern data visualisation methodologies.
- Develop self-service reporting solutions that meet business needs.
- Implement effective data visualisation techniques to convey complex information clearly.
Technical Documentation and Support
- Produce comprehensive documentation including design templates, testing plans, and user guides.
- Create both technical documentation and business user-focused materials.
- Ensure all developments adhere to change control processes with rigorous testing procedures.
Stakeholder Collaboration
- Work with Information Business Partners and data engineers to analyse business/care delivery processes.
- Present complex information to diverse stakeholders and address ad-hoc queries.
- Translate technical concepts into accessible solutions for non-technical users.
System Development and Maintenance
- Participate in projects aligned with key organisational objectives.
- Maintain and administer reporting environments.

Essential
- Educated to Degree level or equivalent experience in business intelligence/ designing dashboards
Desirable
- Postgraduate/ professional qualification in research/ advanced statistics.
- Prince2, Agile or other Project Management qualification.
Experience

- Practical knowledge in using Microsoft SQL Server and Microsoft Power BI.
- Experience in documenting data management solutions, including architectural diagrams, dashboards, extracts, and reports.
- Experience in requirements/ business analysis techniques and change control.
Desirable
- Understanding of ITIL good practice in a work environment.
- Experience in developing complex data transformations using specialist integration tools such as SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS).
